On Sunday 8 March 2026, the Enormous Vocal Ensemble (EVE) returns to The Black-E, Liverpool — a venue that has long symbolised creativity, community, and change. This latest edition will be directed by Jennifer John, who is delighted to welcome Amahla as her guest artist.
Amahla is one of the UK’s most exciting emerging voices — an Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee and PRS Foundation Lynsey De Paul Prize winner — whose sound moves effortlessly between soul, jazz, and storytelling. Her song Enough is a bold and deeply moving reflection on our shared humanity: a letter to those whose names have been forgotten, to those still fighting to be seen, and to everyone who continues to raise their voice against injustice.
For this event, Jennifer has created a brand-new choral arrangement of Enough — written especially for this moment and for the voices in the room. Together, Jennifer and Amahla will explore what it means to sing about freedom, dignity, and the power of collective voice. As two Black women, they bring their experiences, artistry, and belief in humanity into the space — not as a protest, but as an affirmation. It’s political with a small p, but deeply human with a capital H.
Open to singers and non-singers alike, the session will see Jennifer teaching the arrangement live on the day, transforming the audience into an instant choir who will perform alongside Amahla. In keeping with the EVE model, Amahla will not hear the arrangement until the soundcheck — making the first performance an authentic shared debut, full of spontaneity and emotion.
The morning will conclude with a Q&A, and the experience will be filmed as part of the ongoing EVE Documentary Series.
No audition. No sheet music. Just voices, connection, and shared humanity.
