The People's Remix Choir

Pushing the boundaries of what choirs can do

The People’s Remix Choir was an accessible and inclusive virtual choir. It was an opportunity for everyone passionate about singing to be featured on a commercial disco-house recording with award-winning ensemble, Sense of Sound destined to be released on all streaming platforms, regardless of singing experience, age or location.

About the project

This was stage 2 of an online choir series curated by Jennifer John during lockdown. Series 1, Love Sings, was a global community project that brought together 180 people from 15 different countries as a virtual choir.

This was the creation of an online recording of Sense of Sounds’ version of the club classic ‘Follow Me’ by Aly-Us, open to everyone regardless of age, location or singing experience.

About Sense of Sound

Based in Liverpool, Sense of Sound is an eclectic group of professional vocalists whose impressive track record of performances has seen them perform locally, nationally and internationally. Their talent has been recognised by many established artists, leading them to perform with an array of singers and songwriters including Paloma Faith, Jon Bon Jovi, Imogen Heap, Seal, Damon Albarn, Space, Cast and most recently Blossoms. In addition, they are also the resident singers for the annual Cream Classical concerts in the stunning Liverpool cathedral. In 2017 they opened for the legendary Nile Rodgers and Chic at The M&S Arena in Liverpool. Since 2019, they have released two disco-house tracks in partnership with the dance label, Duo-Tone.

THE SONG

Renowned Liverpool choir Sense of Sound released in 2019 their disco version of the club classic ‘Follow Me’ from the 90s by Aly-Us on dance label Duo-Tone. This time, The People’s Remix Choir are singing, with Sense of Sound Singers, a version arranged specially by Jennifer John for the occasion.
