Love Sings
2020
Jennifer John's "Love Sings" was an award-winning virtual choir project created in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The project brought together 180 singers from 15 countries to promote hope, connection, and wellbeing through music.
Project details
The song: Participants sang an original composition, also titled "Love Sings," which was written by Jennifer John to celebrate the uplifting effects of collective singing.
The mission: John's motivation for the project was to connect people feeling isolated during lockdown and allow them to express themselves freely through music.
Collaborations: The project was developed in partnership with Liverpool-based companies Zút Media and Parr Street Studios.
Charitable fundraising: Beyond its musical goals, the project also raised £1,580 for two Liverpool charities, The Florrie and All Together Now, which were heavily impacted by the pandemic.
The finished video: The final video compiling all 180 individual vocal performances was released on YouTube in May 2020.
